If you’re interested in starting an off-grid homestead, these are the resources I recommend. I try to keep this simple and practical, because most people don’t need more information. They need clearer expectations.
Everything here is optional. There’s no pressure to buy anything. This page just shows the path I’d follow if I were starting today.
The Roadmap
This is a small, inexpensive starting point for people who are still figuring things out. It helps you understand what actually matters early on, what tends to get overemphasized online, and how to think clearly about off-grid living before you make big decisions.
If you’re curious, researching, or just trying to sort through the noise, this is a good place to start.
The Book
This book is a framework for building a sustainable life through five connected systems: shelter, water, food, power, and income.
If you want to read the full description and see where it fits in the overall path, you can view the product page here.
The Frugal Off-Grid Path
This is the complete path I’d follow if I were starting over.
It includes my full lecture series, delivered as six focused, hour-long sessions that walk through the core systems that determine whether off-grid life works long term. The core modules include: How to Start a Homestead, How to Find and Buy Land, How to Build Your Homestead, How to Generate Income, How to Eliminate Debt, and Thrive.
The Path also includes my Roadmap, which focuses on how to think clearly before you act, plus my first two off-grid e-books documenting my first and second years living alone off-grid, what worked, what didn’t, and what I would do differently if I were starting today. As well as my newest book which focuses on my systems based overview of building a sustainable life. perhaps my most valuable book, spanning my entire off grid experience.
This isn’t theory or influencer advice. It’s a practical, real-world education meant to help you avoid expensive mistakes before you commit to land, building, or systems.
Optional Support
The community is optional support for people who want to go a little further.
It’s a small group where people can ask questions, compare notes, and talk through decisions as they move forward. It’s not required to start off-grid and it’s not meant to replace independent thinking. It’s simply there for people who want conversation and accountability along the way.
If you’re not sure where to start, start with the Roadmap. If you already know you’re serious and you want the full picture, the Path is the most complete option.
