Series allows you to connect batteries while increasing voltage and amperage stays the same.
Parallel allows you to connect batteries while maintaining voltage and increasing amperage.
Parallel/series allows you to build more than one appropriate size battery bank and then connect them together.
A bus bar will allow you to connect equal lengths of wire from negative and positive to draw electricity from your bank in the most balanced way possible.
